Jack McClegg lives on an isolated Scottish island. His life changes when film director Edmund Byfleet and his two grown-up children, Dania and Rebob, enter his world. Through them he learns about a wider world, a wider world that is sometimes beyond his understanding and his control.

 This is also the story of Jack’s family, Jack’s best friend Connell O’Dowd and Jack’s uncle Bram, fisherman, great drinker and storyteller, and what can be seen and not seen and what you need and what you can do without and what it takes to finally know who you are and what you really want.
